About Boepensie Spices
OUR STORY
Boepensie Spices started in 2012 when Jean Senekal, made some homemade spices to take with him to braais. Everyone would always ask for Jean’s spice mixes. Soon he started writing down what he used to make the spice mixes. That is when our first six spice mixes came to life, namely; Braai & Seasoning, Worcester sauce, Sprink’l-O-Magic, Beef & BBQ, Chicky-Meat and Portuguese Mild Peri Peri.
The mannetjie that is on all the labels are also a personal creation from my husband. He always draws the Boepensie mannetjie’s face when speaking to someone over the phone. So for me that was my husband’s trademark. We made him part of Boepensie.
Our friends loved it and we started a small side line business with our spices. About a year later, we made another five spices. Our friends were our first testers. Kalamazoo Pepper Spice, Aromate, Chillimate, Fish’O-Chick and Super Salty Vinegar. Now we had a spice for each member of the family. In 2017, Jean started selling his old army friend’s delicious Mango Chutney and Sauces such as Jalapeno Chillies, Chilli Sauce and Chilli Mayo Sauce for the brave.
We made it part of our range, and 3 years ago (2021) we added our, mouth-watering, different types of Olives. Satisfying, Big Awesome tasting Olives, Extra Virgin and Olive Oil. We also made spice number twelve which is Mat’o’licious Butter Salt (Named after our younger son Matthew. It was his idea and his mix). The 13th spice is CF’s our older son’s creation. The All Boep Rounder Rub. Excellent on steaks.
